Data sources & attribution
BrandMappr datasets are built by reconciling multiple open and licensed sources. This page lists them and their licences.
| Source | Licence | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Overture Maps Foundation — Places | CDLA-Permissive-2.0 | © Overture Maps Foundation and contributors |
| All The Places | CC0-1.0 (project output) | Store-locator harvest data, including retailer-direct feeds |
| Foursquare OS Places | Apache-2.0 | © Foursquare Labs, Inc. |
| OpenStreetMap | ODbL-1.0 | © OpenStreetMap contributors. Used as a corroborating witness only — OSM-origin records are not included in published counts or delivered datasets |
| Natural Earth | Public domain | Country boundaries on the map figures |
| INSEE | Licence Ouverte | 2022 census régional populations, used for the people-per-location column |
This page exists because two of these licences require it. Foursquare OS Places is Apache-2.0, which requires attribution notices to be retained in redistributions; Overture Places is CDLA-Permissive-2.0, which requires the notice to travel with the published data; and INSEE's Licence Ouverte requires acknowledgement of the source. Keeping this page reachable is a condition of using the data, not a courtesy.
What BrandMappr adds is the reconciliation: matching records across sources so one physical location is one row, scoring each record's confidence, excluding everything below the floor, and checking the resulting count against the figure the operator publishes. That work is ours. The underlying location records are licensed from the sources above.
